Winning fare for Indians and Australians
The second Test match between Indian and Australia at Chennai from 14th to 18th October may have ended in a draw, but there was one winning factor that kept both teams happy. The food they were being served in the Pavilion came from Quality Inn Sabari. It did us proud to do our hospitable best for the men in white, and ensure that we kept them in fighting fit condition for the match. While the Indians tucked in to the food with thoroughness, the Aussies did only one thing – ask for more!
This is not the first occasion when cricket and cuisine have spelt a special combination for Quality Inn Sabari. When the historic India-Pakistan series was being played in March 2004, the hotel hosted a special food festival of Indian and Pakistani delicacies. Several specialities of the North-West frontier were served to guests as they watched the Indo-Pak matches on giant screens set up specially for the event.
A day in their lives
The second anniversary of Quality Inn Sabari was celebrated in a very special way at the hotel, with 50 cancer-afflicted children, all under 14, from the Cancer Institute, met celebrities like classical singer Sudha Raghunathan, film comedian Vivek, TV star Vijay Adiraj and cricketer Balaji. At a party where they danced to the latest Tamil film numbers, and put aside the painful daily reality of injections and blood transfusions, the children brought a different element of caring and sharing to the hotel’s celebration.
Doting parents, themselves traumatized by the constant round of hospitalization, chemotherapy and restrictive lifestyles, watched their children blossom under this occasion of warmth and happiness. The mothers were united in their view that such occasions made a difference to the children’s emotional strength.
As for Mr. KRV Ramani, Managing Director of Quality Inn Sabari, this was the best way he could have celebrated the hotel’s milestone. “Everyone in the hotel and my family is happy,” he said. |
